Though Hokies used to takeaway their own to pull 24-17 with 2:54 left on the eight yard scoring pass of Brewer’s to Bucky Hodges, and got Williams fumble on the sack by Luther Maddy.

Isaliah Ford was hit by Brewer for 36 yards to the Tar Heels’ 12 yard line. After two runs, an incomplete pass gave them the fourth and second at the line of four yards. Brewer also hit a sliding Ford for the touchdown.

Hokies tried to offer Beamer a win in the last home game of his career of 29 years. They shut down the most potent offense of ACC for three quarters, but the late turnovers have hurt them.
